Sleep-Out 2025
As our founder(Matthew Tong) is Service Steward, one of his main goals is not only to create a variety of engaging service opportunities, but also to help us better understand the value and challenges of those we are helping.
That's why he and Lincoln are proud to be bringing the Covenant House Sleep Out to UCC, in partnership with Bags to Beds.
Covenant House is Canada's largest charity for providing support to youth experiencing homelessness. Each year, it provides shelter, education, healthcare, and critical resources to thousands of young people without a safe place to call home.
Through this initiative, we will gain perspective on some of the daily challenges faced by homeless youth by sleeping outdoors on the UCC oval on Friday, October 3rd. To deepen the experience, we will also be trialing sample plastic bag sleeping mats from Bags to Beds.
We are looking for around 20 students to participate in this overnight event. Each participant will receive 12 service hours and will be asked to fundraise by asking family and friends for donations to support Covenant House.
